Tall Ships Festival August 23rd - 26th
As the final host port for the Tall Ships Races 2012, Dublin will be the place to be from the 23rd to the 26th of August 2012.
The atmosphere around the Dublin docks area promises to be magical, and with four days of festival events to enjoy there will be something to entertain all of the family.
The Tall Ships Races 2012- Dublin will be an epic adventure for all the family with some of the highlights including Archipelago, a fun traditional wooden family games area; An Interactive Sea Orchestra with DJ’s, percussionists, Boomwhackers – all leading to a grand finale of ‘Yellow Submarine’; Out of the Blue installation of large weaved willow fish & ship sculptures which will sit in Grand Canal Square where children can create elements to add to the installation in daily workshops; The Barren Carrousel Family Sideshow, will dazzle you with back cracking contortions and death defying aerial feats; The Lords of Strut Street Show is a high-energy, comic, acrobatic show with break-dancing, contortions, acrobatic ladders, acrobalance and very original comedy; Shipwrecked Silent Disco is a fancy dress headphone disco for all the family; Opera In The Open organised by Dublin City Council Arts Office presents an exclusive lunchtime performance of Mozart’s masterpiece Cosi Fan Tutti; Sea Scapes welcomes a host of vibrant world music acts from ports across the world, featuring Silta, Lukas, Oleku and the Soukous All Stars; Haut Debit French brass ensemble will bring their unique fusion of funk, ska and afrobeat to get audiences on their feet.
